History
The Nickerson Snead House was built circa 1835, however, the original log portion was built in the 1700s by Francis Kincannon. During this period it was used as a fort during the Revolutionary War and the French and Indian War. Dr. Nickerson Snead and his wife Betsy Snead built this beautiful historic home. It was a field hospital Civil War hospital and the cellar was used as a morgue. The Nickerson Snead House is home to several spirits including Betsy (The Woman in Blue), a little girl, and a little boy (presumably Josephine and Douglas Mason).

What are the hours of the museum. I broke down across the street from this beauty and stayed at the econo lodge overnight. I’m a huge history buff and already purchased the book. I’m fascinated with the history of this house and would love to tour it. Can I talk to the owners somehow. I’m coming back to glade spring this weekend..

I am trying to see if I can book the with chaser event in January I’ll be at the end of radiation treatment so may not feel good can you tell me of other future events,how much is it for a one bedroom per night?

Can’t wait until I can travel to Virginia to see this home. Betsy (Elizabeth Scott) is my 1st cousin 6x removed. Francis Kincannon family is related by marriage of George Kincannon and Ann Scott (1st cousin 7x removed) History is awesome!

Elizabeth Jane (Scott) Snead’s grandparents were my 5g grandparents. They lived east of Saltville.

I see it’s been awhile since last post. Francis Kincannon is my 8th g. grandfather. My Mother is a Kincannon- direct descendant. I’d be thankful to share and exchange any known information. I have not been able to verify for certain Francis’ parents from Ulster, specifically his mother (Mary?). I’ve read two somewhat differing accounts. Agreed, the history of family branches intriguing.
